Ameriprise Financial Announces New $1.5 Billion
Share Repurchase Program
Regular quarterly dividend declared
MINNEAPOLIS — April 22, 2008 — Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP), announced today that our board of directors has authorized an additional expenditure of up to $1.5 billion for the repurchase of shares of our common stock through April 23, 2010. Since becoming an independent company on September 30, 2005, we have repurchased $1.7 billion of our common stock.
We intend to fund share repurchases through existing working capital,
future earnings and other customary financing methods. The share repurchase
program does not require the purchase of any minimum number of shares,
and depending on market conditions and other factors, these purchases may
be commenced or suspended at any time without prior notice. Acquisitions
under the share repurchase program may be made in the open market, through
block trades or other means.
In addition, the board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend
of $0.15 per common share, payable on May 16, 2008 to shareholders of record
at the close of business on May 2, 2008.
