How do I access my accounts online?
To view your Ameriprise Financial accounts online, select the "register" link from the log in box in ameriprise.com.
Why do I get the message "User ID already in use" when I am trying to create an ID?
Another online user has already selected the user ID you are trying to create. Try adding numbers or letters to the beginning or end of the user ID you'd like to use.
When logging in, why do I see the terms and conditions page when I have already registered?
This may happen when we update the terms and conditions or when you incorrectly enter your user ID. Because the user ID is not the same one you initially registered with, our site assumes you are a new user. To retrieve the correct user ID, you will need to contact customer service by phone.
Can I use the same user ID and password for multiple services?
You can use the same user ID and password for multiple sites. When registering for a new service, simply log in using the same user ID and password, and you will proceed to registration.
What if I currently have different user IDs I wish to consolidate?
Contact customer service by phone to consolidate your user IDs.
What are the guidelines for creating my user ID and password?
Your user ID must contain:
- Five to 20 characters
- At least one letter
- No spaces and no special characters, such as: & > * $ @
Your password must contain:
- Six to 16 characters
- At least one letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character: ! @ # $ % etc.
What do I do when my access is revoked?
To re-instate your access, contact customer service by phone. For your protection, online access to your account will be temporarily suspended if:
- You entered the wrong user ID and/or password multiple times
- You entered the wrong security validation question or the wrong security validation Answer multiple times
How do I change my password or user ID?
If you do not know your current password, you'll have to know your user ID. Go to the log in screen and select "Forgotten Password." Your new password cannot match the previous password. Your password change will take effect immediately. If you do not have your user ID, or wish to change your user ID, you will need to contact customer service by phone .
If you already know your user ID and password, you can change your password as follows:
- In the Brokerage site, select "Update Your Profile and User Settings". Then click "Change Logon Password".
- In the My Financial Accounts site, go to Your Profile and select "Change your Password".
I forgot my user ID and password. What do I do now?
To retrieve a forgotten user ID and receive a temporary password, you will need to contact customer service by phone.
Is my confidential information secure?
To protect your information, we use the following security features:
- Whenever we ask you to send confidential information over the internet, including personal account data, we require that a "secure session" using SSL first be established.
- To access account information we require that your browser employ 128-bit encryption.
- When you register for online account access, we ask you to provide personal information to authenticate your identity.
- You choose your own user ID and password during the registration process. You are the only person who knows your password, and you can change it at any time.
- When you register, we ask you to answer a security question. We use the answer to verify your identity if you forget your password and reset it online.
- Secure areas of our site have built-in timers that terminate your access after prolonged inactivity. When you finish viewing your account information, you should log off from the site.
