Your accounts and products at Ameriprise Financial

Will I see any changes to my accounts or the products in them with the transition to Ameriprise Financial?

As of or around Oct. 5, 2009 there were a few minor changes. To make it easier for you to understand these changes, we've summarized them below.

Cash sweep option

Your brokerage or managed account has a sweep option that provides day-to-day liquidity and transactional cash. You now have one of the following sweep options available based on your account type:

  • Ameriprise Insured Money Market Account (AIMMA)
  • Dreyfus Cash Management — Participant Shares
  • Dreyfus General Money Market Fund — Class A
  • Ameriprise Cash

Nonqualified accounts

Your nonqualified accounts have moved from Ameriprise Advisor Services, Inc., to Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. You should experience no differences related to this change.

Investor Account with premium features

The Investor Account with premium features has become the Ameriprise ONE® Financial Account and you may have access to the following additional features:

  • Online bill pay
  • Ameriprise Personal Savings Account
  • Overdraft protection line of credit

Product name changes

After your account transfers to Ameriprise Financial, you will notice it has a new name. Your account features have remained the same unless otherwise noted.

  • The Select Advisory Account became the Ameriprise® Vista Separate Account.
  • The Advisory One Account became the Ameriprise® Investor Unified Account.
  • The Strategic Advisory Solutions Account became the Ameriprise® Access Account.
  • The Investor Account became the Ameriprise® Brokerage Account.
  • The Investor Account with premium features became the Ameriprise ONE® Financial Account and gained additional features. See the previous listing, “Investor account with premium features,” for further details.
  • If you had a Premier Advisory Account with cash management features, it became a Premier Advisory Account with Ameriprise ONE Financial Account features.
  • If you had a SmartTrade Account with cash management features, it became a SmartTrade Account with Ameriprise ONE Financial Account features.

Tax-qualified IRAs

As part of the integration, AASI merged into American Enterprise Investment Services, Inc. (AEIS). AEIS has become the successor custodian to your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), pending approval by the Internal Revenue Service to act as an IRA nonbank custodian.

Effective Jan. 1, 2010, AEIS will resign as your IRA custodian and Ameriprise Trust Company will become the successor custodian, subject to the terms and conditions applicable to all Ameriprise IRAs and set forth in the Your guide to IRAs document found in the CD that was mailed to your home. Your guide to IRAs contains the custodial agreement governing your Ameriprise IRA.

Transactional brokerage and managed accounts
On or around Oct. 5, 2009, the clearing firm holding your accounts and assets changed to American Enterprise Investment Services, Inc. (AEIS). On the CD that was mailed to your home, you'll find a copy of the new Ameriprise Brokerage Client Agreement and fee schedule that will govern your relationship with us going forward. The key changes from your AASI brokerage account are also included.

AEIS serves as the clearing agent for Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., in providing execution and clearing services for transactions that are executed for customers. Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., approves and opens accounts and accepts securities transaction instructions with respect to customer accounts. In exchange for a fee paid by Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., AEIS provides execution, record keeping and all clearing functions for customer accounts.

Note: If you have a managed account (defined below), unless you notified your financial advisor to the contrary by Aug. 31, 2009, you have been deemed to have consented to the assignment of your investment advisory contract to Ameriprise Financial.

A “managed account” includes the Premier Advisory Account, Smart Solutions Account, Professionally Managed Account Program, AdvisoryOne Account, Strategic Advisory Solutions, and/or Select Advisory Account.

Brokerage, investment and financial advisory services are made available through Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. Member FINRA and SIPC. Some products and services described may not be available in all jurisdictions or to all clients.
