Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance shares its history with its parent company, Ameriprise Financial. Here’s a brief timeline of some of our defining events.

1894

John Tappan founds Investors Syndicate in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

1949

Investors Syndicate Life renames itself Investors Diversified Services (IDS).

1984

American Express Company acquires IDS.

 

1986

American Express acquires Wisconsin Employers Casualty Company of Green Bay and renames it IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company.

1987

IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company launches with 25 employees in Wisconsin.

2000

Due to continued growth, a new state-of-the-art facility is built in Green Bay.

2005

Ameriprise Financial becomes an independent, publicly owned company with Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Today

We offer products in 42 states, have approximately 1,600 employees and provide nearly a million policies.
