Our leadership development programs (LDP) offer full-time paid positions with Ameriprise to high-achieving emerging talent. During the 18-24 month program, you will be placed in the line of business of your choice where you will rotate through various key areas. You will work on important projects to gain experience and leadership skills. Throughout the entire program, you'll have dedicated support from a senior leader.

Actuarial

This three-year program (two 18-month rotations) offers challenging assignments that involve modeling and managing contingent and financial risk. You will have the opportunity to work in at least one of the following areas: 

• Valuation/finance
• Enterprise risk management
• Product development, management and implementation

Columbia Threadneedle

In this 24-month rotation program, you’ll work with a leading global asset management group. As a part of the program, you’ll complete three 8-month rotations in investment process roles such as:

• Research
• Trading
• Portfolio management

In addition to rotation-specific responsibilities, participants will also be expected to participate in the CFA Charter program.

Finance

The Ameriprise financial leadership develop program offers an experience in accounting/reporting, decision support and finance processes. As part of this 24-month commitment, you will be part of a cohort where you will gain experience through three 8-month rotations in the following areas:

• Accounting/tax/audit
• Finance
• Utility (procurement, treasury, real estate, business planning and analysis)

Legal and Compliance

Learn how to identify, analyze and mitigate risk across all lines of Ameriprise business – Advice and Wealth Management, Global Asset Management and RiverSource Insurance and Annuities. In this 18-month rotation program from Ameriprise, you’ll develop valuable leadership skills to crease business solutions that protect clients. You'll also execute on strategic projects as you rotate through several teams, such as:

• Anti-money laundering / anti-fraud
• Field office inspections
• Compliance communication review group
• Regulatory affairs

Marketing, Communications and Community Relations

Explore the strategies and research required to market a powerful brand and to create compelling communications and digital interactions. In this 18-month rotation program, you’ll develop critical skills as you complete three rotations in one or more of the following areas:

• Consumer marketing, insights and market segmentation
• Digital, UX engineering and local marketing
• Marketing strategy and analytics
• Internal and external communications, and community relations

Products and Business Solutions

Advice & Wealth Management Products & Services works toward providing a best-in-class client and advisor experience, while also making sure our products and services create a competitive advantage for Ameriprise.

Sales

In this 18-month leader development program, you’ll gain valuable experience and industry knowledge helping to drive profitable growth for approximately 10,000 financial advisors. You will complete three rotations through different departments, such as:

• Experienced advisor recruiting and practice acquisitions

• Advisor training
• Supervision
• Field compensation
• The Advice and Wealth Management project management office

Service & Operations

Explore strategies and skills required to build an organization that creates a best-in-class advisor, client and employee experience. This 18-month rotation program offers valuable experience with exposure to data analysis, key reporting capabilities and identifying and implementing innovative opportunities in these areas:

• Service delivery

Technology

Learn the critical role technology plays in the financial services industry. This 18-month rotation program will expose you to several areas of technology including, but not limited to:
